Summary: Mona Gould, a skilled magic wielder and perfectionist, takes on the role of leader of the Western Magical Branch following her mother Genevieve’s unexpected death. As she struggles to balance her new responsibilities with her grief, Mona opens a bakery as a tribute to her mother and a means to maintain balance between her work and passions.
However, Mona’s life is thrown into further turmoil when Yoon, her childhood pair bond who abandoned her years ago, returns. His reappearance forces Mona to confront the painful memories and the trust issues that have haunted her ever since. As Mona navigates her complicated emotions and the challenges of leadership, she begins to uncover unsettling secrets about her mother’s past and the circumstances surrounding her death.
With the help of her capable assistant Haneul, her supportive best friend Mertixell, and an unexpected ally in Yoon, Mona delves deeper into a conspiracy that threatens the very foundation of the magical community. She discovers that a secretive group known as the Order of Magical Purity, opposed to the integration of magical and non-magical communities, may be responsible for her mother’s death and a larger plot to destabilize the magical world.
As the investigation progresses, Mona must confront her own aversion to empathic magic, a power she has long suppressed. She learns to embrace her unique abilities and finds solace and clarity in her bakery, where she makes her best decisions. With time running out and the fate of her community hanging in the balance, Mona must learn to trust her instincts, her allies, and her own magical gifts to uncover the truth, bring the conspirators to justice, and lead her people towards a brighter, more united future.
